day trip to ouzoud waterfulls

A one-day trip from Marrakech to the stunning Ouzoud Waterfalls is one of the most
rewarding excursions you can take while in Morocco. The journey begins early in the
morning—ideally around 7:00–8:00 AM—since the drive takes roughly 2.5 to 3 hours. As
you leave Marrakech, you’ll pass through changing landscapes: from dry plains to olive
groves and small Berber villages, giving you a glimpse of rural Moroccan life.
By late morning, you’ll arrive at Ouzoud, where the sound of cascading water welcomes you.
The waterfalls are among the highest in North Africa, dropping about 110 meters in multiple
tiers. Start your visit with a gentle hike along the shaded paths that lead down toward the base.
Along the way, you’ll likely encounter local guides, small cafés, and even wild Barbary
monkeys that inhabit the area. The viewpoints offer incredible photo opportunities, especially
as rainbows often form in the mist.
Around midday, take a break for lunch at one of the traditional restaurants overlooking the
falls. Many serve classic Moroccan dishes like tagine or grilled meats, and the terraces
provide panoramic views of the cascades. If you’re feeling adventurous, you can take a short
boat ride that brings you close to the base of the waterfall, where you’ll feel the refreshing
spray.
In the afternoon, continue exploring the area—either by completing the loop trail back up or
relaxing by the river. The return hike can be a bit steep, so take your time and enjoy the
scenery. Most visitors begin heading back to Marrakech around 4:00–5:00 PM, arriving in the
city by early evening, depending on traffic and stops along the way.
This day trip combines natural beauty, light adventure, and cultural charm, making it a perfect
escape from the busy streets of Marrakech
