Itinerary

Day 1: Fes – Ifrane – Ziz Valley – Merzouga (Erg Chebbi Dunes)

Departure: 07:30 AM | Drive Time: ~7–8 Hours

Your MoroccoEyes driver will pick you up from your Riad or hotel in Fes to begin your journey south. Ascent through the scenic Middle Atlas region, making your first stop in Ifrane, often dubbed the “Switzerland of Morocco” for its European architecture. Continue into the ancient cedar forests of Azrou to encounter native Barbary macaques in their natural habitat.

After lunch in Midelt, cross the Tizi n’Tilghmt pass and descend into the breathtaking Ziz Valley, where vast palm groves line deep red canyons. By late afternoon, reach the golden sands of Merzouga. Swap your vehicle for a camel trek across the Erg Chebbi dunes as the sun sets over the desert. Arrive at your Sahara camp for a traditional Moroccan dinner, live Berber music around the campfire, and an unforgettable night under the stars.

Overnight: Private Sahara Desert Camp (Erg Chebbi, Merzouga)

Meals Included: Dinner

Day 2: Merzouga – Todra Gorge – Dades Valley

Departure: Sunrise | Drive Time: ~4–5 Hours

Wake early to experience a magical Saharan sunrise over the dunes. After a fresh desert breakfast, travel through Erfoud—famous for its ancient fossils—and continue toward the towering limestone cliffs of Todra Gorge. Take a guided walk alongside the river floor surrounded by dramatic 300-meter-high canyon walls.

Following lunch near the gorge, head into the Valley of a Thousand Kasbahs toward the Dades Valley. Marvel at the surreal “Monkey Fingers” geological rock formations and the winding roads of the Dades Gorge before checking into your accommodations for the evening.

Overnight: Boutique Hotel or Riad in Dades Valley

Meals Included: Breakfast & Dinner

Day 3: Dades Valley – Aït Benhaddou – High Atlas – Marrakech

Departure: 08:30 AM | Drive Time: ~6 Hours

After breakfast, depart the Dades Valley through the fragrant Rose Valley (Kelaat M’gouna) toward Ouarzazate, the “Hollywood of Africa.” Visit the iconic Kasbah Aït Benhaddou, a stunning earthen fortress and UNESCO World Heritage Site that has served as the backdrop for dozens of international films.

After exploring the Kasbah and enjoying lunch, begin the scenic traverse across the High Atlas Mountains via the famous Tizi n’Tichka Pass (2,260m). Admire panoramic views of terraced Berber villages built into the mountainsides. Arrive in Marrakech by late afternoon or early evening, where your MoroccoEyes driver will drop you off directly at your accommodation.
